MICKEY GUYTON made history at the 55th ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS, becoming the first Black woman ever to perform solo at the ceremony. GUYTON delivered a moving rendition of her ballad “What Are You Gonna Tell her?” from the GRAND OLE OPRY HOUSE on SEPTEMBER 16, backed by host KEITH URBAN on piano. The song comes from her third EP “BRIDGES,” which she just released on SEPTEMBER 11.

The 37 year-old spoke about it after the ceremony.”The only reason why I felt that I could pursue country music was because I saw another Black woman singing country music named RISSI PALMER. And if it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t be here. So me standing on that stage, representing just women of color period, it shows them that they have the opportunity too, and that they can sing whatever kind of music they want to sing. It doesn’t just have to be just R&B. If they want to sing country music, they can and they will be accepted by this beautiful community.”

GUYTON was nominated for an ACM for “Best New Female Vocalist” in 2016 and also just recently announced that she and her husband, attorney GRANT SAVOY, are expecting their first child.

She was featured in ALL ACCESS MUSIC GROUP’s “WOMEN TO WATCH” on JUNE 23, just a few week’s after her “Black Like Me” single was released after the brutal murder of GEORGE FLOYD.
